More info

In mythological tales, the main function of a snake is to provide well-being to the homes in which they live. It is said that the houses in which he lives are happy, they are not struck by lightning, they are overtaken by disease, and the animals grow better.

The second function of snakes is friendship with children. The snakes slept in the same bed with the children, ate from one vessel, and played together. If any child have slain a serpent, the serpent will not avenge him.

The third function is the administration of justice. No harm was given to the serpent. A popular saga motif, like a snake losing eggs laid in a barn, poisons a pot of milk, but when it sees the eggs returned, it turns the pot over.
